IT'S TIME TO #TURNTHETIDE
THE EVENT |
In past years participants have chosen to walk or run the 17-kilometre stretch of Muriwai Beach from Rimmer Road near Helensville to Muriwai Surf Lifesaving Club.
There has also been a 4-kilometre Second Wave option for those who want to take part but aren't up for the full 17-kilometre distance. In 2020 we are doing things differently, running the event virtually instead. Participants register online, then design their own walk or run wheverever they choose - beach, bush, backyard. |
YOUR IMPACT
From little things, big things grow. Our first walk in 2017 had just 80 walkers but raised an impressive $11,000. In 2019 we had over 200 walkers and raised $19,000.
Each year those funds have gone towards creating lasting impact in our community. In 2017, the money raised at the inaugural Turning The Tide Fundraising Walk allowed the Kia Tīmata Anō Trust to employ a new part-time community advocate. The following year, we were able to take the brave step to employ our first Tane (male) advocate who is working with men who are users of violence, showing them how to make the changes to life a better life. And in 2019 we were able to roll out the next stage of that holistic, wrap-around service for all whānau by funding support groups for both women and men, where we empower individuals to make better choices by focussing on their own well-being and self-worth. Thanks to everyone who has supported the Turning The Tide Fundraising Event. You are helping make the world a safer and happier for so many others. Ngā mihi nui. |
